Several years ago, I read a journal article about a robotic system that scales the facades of a building, inspecting for structural degredation and compromises in the envelope system and glass panels. The arms engage with the bulding at key connection coupling points along a grid built into the envelope, much like the robotic arm on the space shuttle. I want to say it was called a”facade monkey” or “facade spider,” but I could just be making that up. Sadly, I have not been able to locate it again. Can anyone help me locate this system?
